The ultimate goal of jihad is the domination of Islam over the entire world.
In Islam, one is considered “moderate” if one supports the goals of jihad, if not the tactics. Those who totally reject the violent teachings of Islam are considered apostates of Islam and as such, are condemned to death. Moderate Muslims are peaceful “in spite of Islam,” not because of it. The “religion of peace” is a concept the West is eager to embrace – all in the name of political correctness – refusing to believe that a major world religion poses such a devastating threat to humanity .

Hoo boy. More of the misleading tripe and complete misunderstanding of a faith.
I would put your “understanding” of Islam on par with those who use Islam in their quest for political advantage — assclowns like bin Laden et al.
You cherry-pick certain verses out of the Qu’ran, use them out of context for which they were written as “proof” of your assertion that Islam is out to destroy the world by killing off anyone who doesn’t believe.
I can do that with every major religion in the world. I can take passages in the Bible and the Torah out of context without any historical foundation and have them say exactly the same things.
Each of the major religions of the world have had periods in their history where they advoctated the killing and slaughtering of the “unbeliever”. Even different sects of the same religion have had recent history of killing in the name of their interpretation of their God.
This isn’t anything new, it’s just the most recent.
In your “study” of Islam, did you bother to read about the histoy of Muhammad, and the struggles that he went through in his life at that tiime? If you had, then much of these “offensive” verses that you’ve taken out of context would start to make sense — for the times they were written.

By all means, go after those who would use Islam (or any other religion) for their own purposes. Bin Laden had a purpose that was decidingly UN-religious. The problem is, you only focused on his religion and NOT his actual goals.
By the way, those goals of bin Laden have been met by the way we reacted to his attacks. Spend some time an go back and listen to what he was really after, and maybe you might see that we played right into his hand.
I will give you some places to start:. His goals were as follows:
1. Remove US troops stationed in the holy lands of Saudi Arabia
2. The price per barrel of oil should be set at a minimum of $100 per barrel.
3. The US should end its support of corrupt regimes such as Saudi Arabia
Bin Laden believed that all of the regimes in the region — including Iraq — needed to be toppled. He encouraged the US to invade Iraq because he knew that doing so would completely destabalize the region — and it did. It also provided a fertile training ground for new converts to his cause, and provide an almost endless supply of people willing to die for a cause.
Bin Laden and his ilk could give a rats ass about Israel, other than the idea of using the Palestinians as a prop, or distraction. Bin Laden is after the POWER of an oil rich region, and he is using religion to appeal to the weaker people who have been held under the thumb of a brutal regime as a means to accomplish his goals.
You people really need to wake up and see things for what they really are.

So many revelations in the Holy Quran came down to provide guidance to Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) and the fellow Muslims based on what they were confronting at that time. The verse 8:12 is one such verse which is misinterpreted. The verse and its brief explanation follows:
008.012 Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): “I am with you:
give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers:
smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them.”
This verse and the verses before and after were revealed about the Battle of Badr, which occurred in Arabia in the early seventh century. A battle in which the pagans of Makkah traveled more than 200 miles to Madinah with an army of about 1000 to destroy Muslims. Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) and fellow Muslims had suffered severe persecutions and torture for 13 years in the city of Makkah. And now that they had fled Makkah and found a sanctuary in the city of Madinah, they were once again threatened. Muslim Army was only about 300 strong. God Almighty gave the order to Muslims to fight to defend their lives and faith. The enemy came to them with the intent to kill Muslims. It was a war to defend themselves and their Faith. It was a war imposed upon Muslims.
And when you fight, you strive to kill the enemy during the fight…like any other nation on earth now and then.
However, even during the war, Islam has the highest moral law of war. You don’t kill children, women or any one who is not fighting with you. See the page on Human Rights in Islam.
You also don’t fight, if the enemy wants a peace treaty:
008.061 But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards
peace, and trust in God: for He is One that hears and knows (all things).
God Almighty also says in Chapter 60:

For the ignorant, misquotation is a habit they enjoy. Misquoting the Holy Quran is a sin and a shame for the one who commits such an act, as God says in the Quran:
Behold! how they invent a lie against Allah! but that by itself is a manifest sin! [The Holy Quran,4:50]
And He says:
Who does more wrong than those who invent a lie against Allah? They will be turned back to the presence of their Lord, and the witnesses will say, “These are the ones who lied against their Lord! Behold! The curse of Allah is on those who do wrong! [The Holy Quran,11:18]
Imagine if the following Biblical paragraph is used in the same way the above verse is used. Muslims know that Jesus, peace be upon him, like all prophets, came with the message of peace to earth. However, a misquotation may change the whole meaning. Read:
“34 Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
35 For I have come to turn ” ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—“ KJV-Matthew10
Referring to the quotes that you have given about the Bible at the end, I want to tell you that the Bible is about spiritual things and not carnal (worldly) things, that is the reason though Jesus said it, He did not fight a physical war or battle. He fought against the spiritual evils. But as for Mohammed, he was killer and a murderer. He did it in flesh, slaughtered many, immersed in sexual relationships. Do you still say that it was OK?

It’s the same on FOX NEWS but I know the reason why there – the Saudis bought a significant percentage of FOX and they have killed several negative stories about Islam. Not sure about the radio syndicators but I imagine they too are submitting to the will of Muslims. We bloggers are all that’s left, but who knows for how long?

djallyn, The Bible has cleatr, written context (to a specific tribe, like the Alelikites, for example ). Where is this specific context to each of Koranic passages? Can you name and quote them? As far as I know, the Koran doesn’t have this, which gives an open door for the Islamists. If you cannot show a limit to the ttribes, times, of the Koranic kill-the-infidels passages, then they do not match the Christian Bible’s passages.
This would at least make it more difficult to prove your viewpoint.
At BEST, they are open doors with little or no textual context to show your position. At worse, they are on the side of the Islamists.
There is no old covenant and NEW covenant in the Koran, but ther is in the Christian Bible.
